Dr. Kimberly Sawchuk
Co-investigator - Concordia University
Kim Sawchuk is a Professor in Communication Studies (Concordia University, Montreal) and Concordia University Research Chair in Mobile Media Studies. She is a founding member of studioXX (www.studioxx.org) and she currently co-directs the Mobile Media Lab in Montreal: see www.mobilities.ca. Kim’s work examines the ways we live, as embodied and relational beings, within a constantly shifting interface between physical, material and virtual systems. She works collaboratively with communities often sidestepped in discussions of new media and technologies including later life adults and people with disabilities. She is keenly interested in the emergent field of mobilities studies as well as the use of performative techniques for research/creation. As a member of the CCPPA, Sawchuk’s focus is on projects that highlight disability and performance.
